DigWorld is a game played on the real map: where you walk decides what you discover and gather. This page says what data the game uses, why, and what you can do about it. The game is run by Codebyte, obrt za računalno programiranje, vl. Željko Bilandžija, Pula, Grožnjanska 28; write to [email protected] with any question about your data.

What the game uses, and why

What Why
Your account: the identifier Apple or Google gives the game when you sign in, your player name, and the e-mail address Apple or Google passes on (with Apple it may be a private relay address) To keep your game for you on every phone you sign in on.
Your location while the game is open: your position and how exact it is, and whether your phone reports a simulated location To play: what you can see, gather and do depends on where you stand. Unusual movement (jumps of kilometres, a simulated location) is noted to keep the game fair.
The map you discovered and where your base, outposts and towers stand It is your progress in the game.
What you do in the game: resources, buildings, research, workers, fights, trades, alliance membership and alliance chat messages It is the game itself.
Your device: an identifier the app makes for its installation, the token for push notifications, and the check that the app is the real one from the App Store or Google Play (Apple App Attest, Google Play Integrity) To keep you signed in, to send the notifications you choose, and to keep cheating apps out.
Feedback you send from the game, with the position you sent it from To fix what you report.
Crash reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, what it was doing then (the error and where in the app's code), the app version, and the phone's model and system version – not your account or your location To find and fix what breaks.
Purchases: what you bought to support the game (the product, when, until when a subscription runs, whether it was refunded) and the store's reference for it (Apple's transaction number, Google's purchase token). Payment details stay with Apple or Google: the game never sees your card or bank To give you what you bought, on your account only, and to follow renewals, cancellations and refunds.
Reports and blocks: a chat message you report (its text and who wrote it), and the players you block To keep the chat decent: we look at reported messages and remove those that break the terms. Blocked players' messages are hidden from you.

The game does not follow your location in the background: it uses it only while the game is open on your screen. There are no ads in the game, and the game does not sell or share your data for advertising.

This website

The website counts visits with Google Analytics (which pages are read, roughly from where and on what kind of device) – but only if you allow it in the banner at the bottom of the page. Until then, Google Analytics stores nothing on your device (Google's consent mode); your choice is kept in your browser, and you can change it by clearing this site's data. The website itself sets no other cookies. The form for deleting your account sends only what you type into it.

What other players see

Other players never see where your base really is: it is shown to them only near its place, never on it. You yourself are never shown to other players. Your workers and armies are shown to others while they are on their way, but not within 300 m of your base. Your player name, alliance and points are on the leaderboard.

Who else handles the data

  • Apple and Google: signing in, push notifications (Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging), the app checks, and purchases (the App Store and Google Play take the payment; the game asks them whether a purchase is valid and is told when it renews or is refunded).
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports from the app; Google keeps them for 90 days.
  • Cloudflare: the connection between the app and the game's server passes through Cloudflare's network.
  • Microsoft Azure: the daily backup of the game's database is stored there for 30 days.
  • Google Analytics: visits to this website, if you allow it (see above).
  • The game's server and database run on servers the game rents for this purpose.

The map itself is drawn from OpenStreetMap data; no data of yours goes to OpenStreetMap.

How long it is kept

As long as you have an account. When you delete it, everything that belongs to it is deleted, and after 30 days it is gone from the backups too. Feedback is kept until it is dealt with, and a reported message until we have looked at it.

Your rights

You can see what the game knows about you, have it corrected, take it with you, or have your account and data deleted: in the game (Menu → Privacy & terms → Delete my account, at once), see Delete your account, or write to [email protected]. If you live in the European Union, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

DigWorld is not meant for children under 13 (under 16 where the law of your country says so).

Changes

When this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date; a change that matters is also announced in the game.
